Strengthens its contribution to the future of farming with FSA approval
Elita Gıda, operating under Sunar Yatırım, has successfully passed the FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) audit conducted by the SAI (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative) platform, becoming the first company in Türkiye to implement a sustainable farming model in sunflower production. Emphasizing their support for sustainable agriculture in corn cultivation as well, Mustafa Nuri Çomu, Chairman of the Board of Sunar Yatırım, stated: “This season, we partnered with 47 farmers producing sustainable sunflowers and 7 farmers producing sustainable corn. We provided training on good agricultural practices, efficient irrigation methods, waste management, and energy conservation, while supporting our producers with soil analyses and field practices.”
As one of Türkiye’s leading companies in agriculture, food, and bioindustry, Sunar Yatırım’s farmer-friendly sustainable agriculture model, implemented for the past 10 years, has received international recognition. Elita Gıda, the first company in Türkiye to introduce sustainable practices in sunflower production, has successfully completed the FSA audit conducted by the SAI platform. In the 2025 season, the company ensured that the production of 9,490 decares of sunflower and 2,824 decares of corn met international sustainability standards. Highlighting the evolution of their production processes into a more comprehensive and systematic structure each year, Çomu said: “Last year, we expanded our sustainable farming network by including corn production alongside sunflower. This season, we collaborated with 47 large-scale sunflower producers and 7 corn producers, supporting them at every stage. Successfully passing the FSA audits demonstrates that our production aligns with international sustainability stand
ards and meets high criteria. With this approach, we are enhancing agricultural productivity while ensuring safe and sustainable food for future generations.”
A farmer-focused sustainable model
Mustafa Nuri Çomu underlined that Elita Gıda, a Sunar Yatırım Group company, offers holistic support to farmers who supply their products: “We provided training on good agricultural practices, efficient irrigation methods, waste and storage management, improvements in harvesting processes, and energy conservation, while supporting producers through soil analyses and field applications. Thanks to these comprehensive efforts, we ensured that farmers meet the necessary conditions for sustainable production.” Çomu also noted that the raw materials obtained from sustainable agriculture are used in Sunar-branded edible oils carrying the “sustainable agriculture” label, emphasizing that sustainability is a key principle at every stage of delivering Sunar flavors to consumers.
The FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) audit successfully completed by Elita Gıda is recognized as an international standard that evaluates environmental, social, and economic sustainability in agriculture. The program requires producers to achieve high levels of compliance in areas such as soil health, water management, biodiversity conservation, and farmer welfare.
